Fantastically funny!

Last night we took our soon-to-be 6yr old twin boys to see Cinderella at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. “I am absolutely not looking forward to going” exclaimed Twin 1. “It’s for girls and babies” exclaimed Twin 2. “It’s going to be a long night”, said I. After informing them that it was aimed at kids aged 6 + (which it is) and that there would be plenty of boys in the audience (which there were), we took our seats.

Within minutes the show started and what a show it was! With West End star, Julie Atherton, in the title role and Mel Giedroyc (fresh from The Great British Bake Off) starring as the evil step mother (and boy did she play her part brilliantly), the show entertained audiences young and old with humour, story-telling, singing and dancing.

For 2 ¼ hrs (inc a 15 min interval), the show regaled its audience with hilarious characters including Steven Webb, starring as Buttons, Cinderella’s all-singing, all-dancing wonderfully witty best friend; and her two evil step ‘sisters’. The kids were up on their feet, dancing, shouting out on cue and revelling in a traditional panto.

A great old fashioned modern day panto! And a must-see for young and old! We loved it and are already planning our next panto trip!
