Beautifully packaged showing Skye the Air Fairy and the assembled toy on the front of the box, there are 20 pieces in this set and it does take a little bit of self assembly.  Myself and our four year old had great fun building it together. I had to do some parts as our little one couldn’t manage some of the more fiddly bits and I must admit that even I struggled attaching the wind spinner and the door to the blossom balloon, but we got there in the end and we were very impressed with our handy work.  In the words of my building assistant “it’s beautiful”.  All the pieces are made from strong plastic and were robust enough to withstand me unclipping and clipping back into place when I found I had put some pieces in the wrong way round.

The main structure of tree and blossom balloon are lovely and colourful and there are some really cute little accessories for the garden including a tiny watering can and some garden signs.  Even the coriander seeds for planting in the garden are in a cute little bottle which will make a lovely play accessory. The balloon can be removed from the tree.

The two characters included in the box are Skye the Air Fairy, a very dainty articulated doll and Snap the Snapdragon.  They can both fit into the Blossom Balloon as it hangs over the garden. Snap has his own little basket and Skye fits into the ship hanging under the balloon.

One thing to remember, the soil or compost for the garden is not included and I would recommend getting this before you start assembling the toy, something I didn’t do.  It was too dark and wet to go outside to get some, so we were a bit disappointed that we had to wait until the next day to plant the seeds.

The fairy garden is now on my windowsill getting lots of sunlight and we enjoy looking at it every day to watch the plants grow.

One good feature is that the planting area can be easily removed so the toy can be played with anytime.  Also included in the box is “Skye’s Fairy Field Guide” a little booklet full of nature and fairy facts and activities along with tips for growing your seeds.

In partnership with “one tree planted” an organisation who is helping to reforest the world, one tree will be planted for every five “My Fairy Garden“ toys bought. What a great way to encourage children to appreciate and care for nature through play.

Made by “Playmonster” this toy is suitable for children aged four and over and priced at £14.99.  This toy would make an ideal Christmas gift and is available from smythstoys.com here.

There are five other sets available in this range Hedgehog Haven: Well of Wishes, Nettles Nook and Hips Hideaway, all with a different type of edible seed to plant and their own special fairy doll to watch over the garden.
