My husband, daughter and I were very pleased to be selected as the first reviewers for this much needed food and drink venue. Brewers Fayre in Catterick Garrison officially opened on Monday September 28th 2015, situated on a newly built shopping development.
We had booked a table for 6pm which was just as well as it was very busy. We were escorted to our table by Richard, the deputy manager, who asked us if we had ever been to a Brewers Fayre before, as we hadn’t he explained about the different theme nights, bottomless drinks and told us our waitress for the evening would be Kirstie.
The menu was extensive and for the starter, main and initial drink you had to order at the bar, giving them your table number. This process was very swift. My daughter and I both decided on a soft drink and were told where and how to get them and my husband had half a lager.
We decided to share a starter, so opted for the spicy potato dippers accompanied with sour cream and spicy piri-piri sauce, this dish was excellent, the potatoes were lovely and crispy and plenty for the three of us. For mains my daughter had the New Yorker burger, I had the mixed grill and my husband had the ribeye steak. Kirstie told us this would take approximately 20 minutes, which is exactly how long it took to arrive at our table. Everything was cooked to perfection and the food was plentiful. My daughter’s burger which came with chips looked very appetising and she said it is one of the best burgers she has tasted. My mixed grill consisted of 4oz steak, 2 juicy pork sausages, half a chicken breast, half a gammon steak, 2 fried eggs, onion rings, tomatoes, peas and chips and was absolutely delicious. My husband’s steak was well done, what he asked for and he had chosen a Diane sauce to go with it. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
The desert menu was very tempting, what I liked was hey had a display of all the deserts as you came in so it was nice to see what you were getting. We were very full but my daughter and I felt we could fit one in. So I had the apple and berry crumble with custard and my daughter had the Oreo cookie pie without the cream. This was the only let down of the evening, my custard was lukewarm and very watery, the crumble topping was lovely but the filling was very watery, sloppy and just lukewarm. I was offered a replacement dessert but decided against it. My daughter’s dessert was very tasty.
All the staff were very helpful and always had a smile on their faces despite how very busy they were.
The décor and toilets were very clean and all still shiny new.
I would defiantly recommended this place, in fact I have done many times today at work. The food was inexpensive yet succulent. I found it to be a very happy and pleasant place to be and will definitely be going back.
I am giving an overall score of 4.5 out of 5 as the only downside was my desert.
