My 7-year-old twins love STEM subjects. One of my twins has been asking me a lot of questions about the earth and surrounding planets recently. I have always been proactive in getting hold of items which will support my sons’ in their learning. I think that having physical objects to use in play makes things so much more interesting for children. I was therefore over the moon to be offered a Get Real Gear Spacesuit to review. It is available is sizes from 6-12 months and the size my sons received was marked as age 6-8. The product arrived quickly, which is always great when you are a big kid and cannot wait for an item to arrive.
The spacesuit is mostly vibrant orange in colour. It even has NASA on the zip and an accompanying black baseball cap with a red and white NASA logo on. On the left sleeve is a USA flag and on the right sleeve a space shuttle badge. The squishy neck trim is made from soft black leather-like material. The main zip is white and the zips on the pockets are black. There is even a non-fasten up pocket on the right sleeve and a pocket which fastens with a popper on the left-hand sleeve. The spacesuit even has 3 catches which fasten and unfasten. The easiest way to describe these would be as the type you get on rucksacks where you press both sides in order to unfasten them. On the front of the spacesuit is a NASA commander badge and a NASA badge. The main orange fabric feels so soft to touch and I can imagine would be lovely to wear. The bottom of both legs has an elasticated part with a Velcro fastening. The cuffs of each sleeve are made from soft black material. I love this spacesuit and would actually wear an adult sized one to a fancy-dress party myself. It is so cool.
The spacesuit fitted my mini spacemen perfectly with plenty of growing room to maximise enjoyment. I think that it is so well made that this will likely be passed onto another child when my sons have outgrown it. The label has clear care instructions, it should be washed inside out on a cold machine wash. It can be tumble dried on low and warm ironed. The fabric used is 100% polyester. The fabric of the baseball cap is 90% cotton and 10% polyester. The cap can be adjusted easily using the Velcro fastening.
My little boys faces lit up when they saw the spacesuit. I think that it will become a firm favourite dressing up item. It’s just so cool. I cannot wait for one of them to have the opportunity of wearing it to a fancy dress event. It has really helped with regards my sons using their imaginations. We love pretending to go into space. I think the fact that it’s the 50 year anniversary since Neil Armstrong’s moon landing makes it even more special.
I would recommend this item wholeheartedly as it’s amazing.
