The Christmas Lobster at Farnham Maltings Review

Last night I took my two children aged six and 13 to the Farnham Maltings to see the Christmas lobster.  This festive adventure will appeal to the whole family and tells the story of a group of four people (the society for Christmas creatures) who are on the hunt for the true meaning of Christmas.  This adventure will take them far and wide on the search for a Christmas lobster which they believe has all the answers for them.  

This is a lovely Christmassy show with lots of silly fun and laughs, my favourite character was Elliot who I thought brought so much laughter to the show he really stood out, you could tell they really put their all into the performance they also played and sang all their own songs and music which was brilliant and the lyrics were so funny.  

The show has so much going on and the sets seem to change effortlessly from scene to scene from walking through the trees to getting stuck in a blizzard and riding reindeer, and time flies by in no time at all.  I love the interaction with the kids, they all seemed to love having a little input including my youngest who loved joining in.

This is a rather small-scale production compared to some theatres I’ve been to, but they definitely make up for it in enthusiasm.  The theatre is fairly small so wherever you sit you will get a good view with comfy seats.

My kid’s favourite part was when they found the lobster, it was such a funny part, the lobster was hilarious.  We also enjoyed a nice ice cream in the interval. 

The show lasted for about two hours with a 20 minute interval, it was a lovely evening out and we really enjoyed our first visit to the Maltings. 

The Maltings is located in central Farnham and has a decent size pay-and-display car park right outside, there is also a café/bar and lots of reasonably priced snacks.  All the staff seem friendly and helpful and we found the theatre very welcoming.
