Onaie ‘Stormy’ Slippers Review

I have been browsing the Onaie website looking at some of their unique slippers for a while, but hadn’t committed to buying, so I was super excited to be asked to try and review their ‘Stormy’ slippers.  I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect as the stormy slippers are somewhat different from the traditional Onaie style and a little simpler in design, definitely my cup of tea, so I was keen to see what they have to offer.

The package arrived quickly and the simple, yet stylish box gave a little insight into the company ethos on the use of sustainable materials. The slippers were packaged simply in cardboard and paper, which felt in keeping with their natural styling. Aside from the postage bag, I was pleased to see there was minimal plastics used in the packaging and upon checking out Onaie’s ethos, I was further reassured to see that the company have a strong ethical focus on reusing and recycling waste and also engage in ethical trading.

The website is bright, colourful and easy to navigate. I was surprised to see that Onaie not only make slippers (which is what I knew the company for), but they also have a range of sheepskin/wool home wear and accessories and their baby slippers are adorable!

I unpacked my slippers and was a little surprised (although I’m not sure why) that they had a soft, natural wool texture, I didn’t find this unpleasant, but I think I have become so used to manufactured fibres that this was not what I had expected. The slippers are made from Merino wool and have a grey outer, very tasteful – simple and stylish, and a natural cream wool inside layer. I am always wary with wool products as sometimes they can be a little itchy next to the skin, but I wore them for the first time with bare feet and this was definitely not the case. The fit was good, and they were true to size and from the first wear they were SO comfy and cosy, exactly what a rainy, autumn Saturday afternoon with my feet up called for!

The slippers are definitely for indoor use as they don’t have an outdoor sole, perfect for me as I love to leave my slippers by the front door and change into them as I come in – there is something wonderfully relaxing about slipping off your work/outdoor shoes and slipping on cosy slippers and the Onaie Stormy slippers definitely fitted the bill. They have a memory foam layer in the sole which ensures they are extremely comfy and although we have a range of flooring types at home and I can say honestly, I was not slipping and sliding on the hard floor thanks to the non-slip treads on the bottom.

The Onaie ‘Stormy’ slippers are great as a treat for yourself but would also make a wonderful gift too especially for that person in your life who you never know what to buy – everyone should have a great pair of cosy slippers. They are a little more luxurious than your average pair of slippers and so receiving these as a gift would feel extra special, with the companies environmental and ethical stance they would be perfect for an eco-conscious loved one – or anyone for that matter. I would be thrilled to be gifted the Onaie Stormy slippers!
