You can’t have failed to notice the massive renaissance of gin-based drinks in the UK over the past few years. After decades of decline, gin has become an extremely fashionable drink once again. It’s no longer hidden away in traditional cocktails like Gin Martinis or Negroni’s; it’s taken centre stage. A flavoursome gin paired with a palatable designer tonic served over ice in a giant balloon glass has become refreshingly en-trend in pub gardens up and down the country – what could be better?
A knock-on effect of this resurgence, and the occasional sunny day spent in the garden, is the increase in gin consummation at home. Some have been rude enough to suggest that homeschooling has also played its part, but either way, if you’re going to serve a beautiful gin at home, doesn’t it deserve to be presented in an equally beautiful way?
I was recently sent a Copa Gin Glass from Ginology (via the online shopping site Gift Giving All Wrapped Up), and it really is quite spectacular. There’s a comprehensive range of seventeen highly collectable designs available on their website. These designs include flowers, birds, butterflies, even depictions of some of the botanicals used in gin production.
The glass is robust enough to take a few clumsy but not excessive knocks. The one I selected had a delicate printed design of Sweet Peas.
Its dimensions are approximately 11.81 x 11.81 x 21.08 cm and has a weight of 400 Grams.
The glass arrived in a cardboard gift box, and I was pleased to see that no plastic was used in the packaging at all – even its identification label was attached by string rather than a plastic tag.
It should be noted that the glass should only be hand-washed and that the use of a dishwasher is not recommended.
If you were to buy one of these glasses for a gin lover as a gift, I’m pretty sure it would be the start of a collection, hence making gift-giving a little easier on subsequent occasions.
The delivery packaging, via Gift Giving All Wrapped Up, consisted of wholly recyclable cardboard – no pesky bubble wrap used here! While I initially thought the outer box was huge just to contain one Gin Glass, it was needed. Unfortunately, I was out when the glass arrived, and the delivery driver decided to drop the item over my high garden gate despite the evident ‘Fragile’ warning labels. Luckily, due to the excellent packaging, the gin glass survived the drop. A huge thank you to the Gift Giving All Wrapped Up packaging department!
