Excitement levels were high in our house when a large box of toys arrived from Tomy Toomie, all from their Hide and Squeak range. We were delighted to recieve 6 different toys from the range all featuring the Hide and Squeak Eggs and I had a keen tester waiting to try them out. I had previously purchased the eggs as a gift and was impressed but I had no idea there was such a wide range.
Hide and Squeak Eggs
6 adorable eggs in a egg carton, take off the top of the shell to find a squeaky chick inside each in a different colour. These are the perfect baby toy, simple and easy to grasp and the perfect activity to develop those fine motor skills, colour and shape recognition. Appropriate for 6 months and over. The rest of the toys in the range are based around these super cute chicks in their shells.
The thing I love most about these is the egg box they come in, perfect storage and keeping all the parts together but it also makes them a brilliant take away toy to throw into a bag.
Currently (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) selling on Amazon for £7.98 which is a complete bargain, there are not many toys with this longevity that you can buy under a tenner, the rest of the range is also exceptional value.
Hide and Squeak Egg Stackers
Also suitable for over 6 months. 6 colourful eggs in numbered cups with a squeaky inside which can be stacked, each egg has its own shape at the base. Impossible to go wrong with these really, little ones love to stack and build towers.
Currently (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) selling on Amazon for £10.40.
Hide and Squeak Egg and Spoon race set
Includes 4 Eggs with a squeaky inside and matching shape sorting spoons. These are so much fun and can be used for egg and spoon races, shape sorting and as with all the range excellent for sensory development.
Currently (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) selling on Amazon for £9.99.
Hide and Squeak Nesting Eggs
These are the cheapest of the range selling at just £5.99 (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) and most compact. A family of 5 nesting eggs plus a squeaky baby egg in the middle, Russian doll style, brilliant for tiny hands and much giggling for a game of surprising peek a boo. Also brilliant for bath time and water play, the top of each shell has a different cut out for pouring. So cheap and versatile, there is no downside to this toy in my opinion.
Hide and Squeak Bus Baby Toy
Aimed at a slightly older baby 12 months and above, 5 squeaky egg characters and a spinning driver, lots of shape sorting. The top of the bus also comes off and eggs from other sets can be used as passengers. Loads of push along fun. Currently selling on Amazon (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) for £16.99.
Hide and Squeak 2 in 1 Eggventure Train
This was our favourite, suitable for ages 12-36 months. 5 cute squeaky chick characters hiding in their shells comes with a train plus 4 carriages, what makes this so fun is the the carriages can be disconnected and used as seats on a Ferris wheel. There is so much scope for imaginative play as well as all the educational advantages that come with the rest of the range, this toy really grows with the child.
Currently selling on Amazon (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) for £19.99
These toys would make a brilliant gift for little ones at any time of the year but particularly eggcellent for Easter, when babies are too little for the standard chocolate gifts what a brilliant way to stay on theme. You can even hide the eggs and use them in a hunt for added fun!
I think these toys are exceptional value, they are high quality and sturdy enough to take a bashing from rough play as well as offering longevity that so many toys don’t particularly in early years play.
The educational value of these toys and endless play opportunities sell themselves, I love that the range is interchangeable so any of the Hide and Squeak eggs can be used with any of the toys.
I highly recommend the entire range. They are available to buy from most toy shops and supermarkets, I found the best prices were on
Amazon.
