I wondered how the short story of The Snowman would be transformed into an hour and half theatre production but with beautiful simplicity, fantastic choreography and added fun it made a brilliant show.

Whilst the show is aimed at families with young children there’s a warm nostalgic feeling you get as an adult watching the show when you’ve been familiar with this classic story for so long. I was smiling from beginning to end and even had a tear in my eye when The Snowman and The Boy started ‘walking in the air’.

That said, the children in the audience were engaged throughout and seemed to particularly enjoy the fun scenes like live fruit doing the limbo in the kitchen and the Santa and the snowmen dance scene! The show maintained a fun element throughout alongside some wonderfully choreographed scenes such as ‘The Ballerina’.

The musical arrangement, timing and brilliant costumes made you forget this story has no spoken words. The young Archie Durrant who played The Boy did a great job captivating the audience.

In brief, The Snowman is magical and enchanting, timeless family fun!
