The Cutty Sark Greenwich Review
The Cutty Sark
Greenwich, London

Greenwich is a vibrant, busy area of London and well worth a visit. There is plenty to do and a wide variety of places to eat and drink.
The market in Greenwich is well worth a visit with many local craftsmen and street food to sample.
Apart from the Cutty Sark there is also the Royal Observatory (for which you can buy a combined ticket), the Queens House and the National Maritime Museum which you can visit for free.
I travelled to the Cutty Sark on the DLR. This is a clean, fast efficient service which pulls up directly in front of the venue.
The Cutty Sark is beautifully presented with a bright open ticket office and shop combination. The staff were welcoming and helpful.
You enter the ship in the mid–section, it has been furnished out with tea chests which have all the information and interesting facts you could want about the vessel. There is a short film about the history which runs on a loop you can dip in and out at any time. You follow the clear signage and are free to roam around learning about the history of this place. All around the vessel there are activities aimed at children to help them understand more about the Cutty Sark.
On the upper deck they have rooms set up to resemble the crew’s quarters, children can try out the bunks for size. The views over London from here are spectacular. There are staff around the venue who were happy to help answer questions and provide further information.
The café which is located in the hull of the vessel, offers a good range of hot and cold food. I was there towards the end of the afternoon and the staff explained clearly that my tea would come in a takeaway cup as they were beginning to clear away, but I was welcome to use the tables in the café area. Also in the hull is a space which is used as a small venue theatre. It also houses a collection of brightly coloured ships heads.
The cost of £13.50 for an adult is in line with similar venues in London and offers value for money. I would recommend visiting a part of a trip to Greenwich.
