Kirstie Allsopp Lavender Bath Bombes Kit Review

Reviewed by Dorothy White
I didn’t really know what to expect when I received this Kirstie Allsopp Lavender Bath Bombes Kit from Hobbycraft to review.
On opening the box we has a lovely surprise when everything we needed was in the box, including instructions and tips on how to make them. The box contained:
450 gram bicarbonate of soda, 300 gram citric acid granules, 150 gram cornflour, 5ml pure lavender essential oil, 5 gram lavender flowers, 4 large sphere bombe moulds, 1 spray bottle and instructions.
My granddaughter and I keen to get started on creating these bath bombes.
There were 4 reusable sphere moulds in which to make them, there was even something to make them fizz!
We read the instructions and found we needed some extra kitchen items – sieve, mixing bowl and gloves. Once we found these items we then started to make our bath bombes by missing the different ingredients. We added some of the citric acid to the mixing bowl and then used the sieve to add the bicarbonate of soda and cornflour. We then added some of the lavender oil to the spray bottle and topped it up with water spraying it into the mixing bowl while mixing the powder. Then we added some of the dried lavender flower to each mould and some of our mixture. We closed the moulds and left them overnight.
The next morning we had our bath bombes ready to use.
If we had wanted to give these bath bombes away as gifts we could have spent more time decorating them attractively, but my granddaughter couldn’t wait to use them herself!
We enjoyed our bath bomb making session, and most of the ingredients will be very simple to replace once finished, e.g. bicarb, citric acid, cornflour, lavender oil.
I would recommend this, especially if like me you get a child to help you make them.
