If you love theatre and are fairly local to the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre I would recommend a visit. It’s a great theatre in a good location, surrounded by plentiful parking and a fair few places to grab a drink and food. You can of course visit the bars in the theatre but they can be busy, they do have a new system, if you scan the QR code, and order online, they will bring the drinks to your seat, highly recommended!

We don’t often watch live music in this country, I don’t know why, because we really should. Being a massive Whitney fan, I had high hopes for this evening’s show. It was a show that has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, so our expectations were high.

Queen of the Night A Tribute to Whitney Houston has toured the UK extensively and is currently on a UK tour. She sure does look like Whitney! The ladies on stage looked the part with throughout the show some pretty amazing outfits that I wouldn’t mind wearing myself, what a sizzling spectacular sight they all were. Whitney has three backing singers and a band on stage with her, and they all have some sensational voices. Straight from the moment Whitney arrived on stage, the audience were hooked. We were treated from the opening number to a string of Whitney hits from across the board, I couldn’t see that anyone wasn’t either clapping their hands or tapping their toes. At times I closed my eyes just to let all my senses soak up the pure joy of her voice.

We should all go and support local theatres when live acts bring their show, some of the performers are of a very high standard, what a treat to see in your local area and at a fraction of London prices.

Costumes changes were all in true Whitney context, and helped add to the ambience of the staging, the band and the glorious music of our beloved Whitney Houston.

She sang all our favourites and more, too many to list for sure, for me my standouts will always be The Greatest Love of All and I Will Always Love You, but sometimes all of them are your favourites. At times, it was hard to believe you were not in the same room as Whitney, such was the range of the lead vocalist, although her backing singers who started the show in a stunning red catsuit had a simply stunning voice as well.

It’s a great show, that passes all too quickly. My only grumble is that staff did nothing to stop the over exuberance of some members of the audience which was spoiling the enjoyment of those seated around them, thankfully they moved themselves to a new location!

Oh Whitney, I will always love you! Go see this show if it’s touring near you.
