Having reviewed and loved the concept of Casdon’s quality toys, I couldn’t wait to receive this and put it to use with my 4-year-old granddaughter. Her play kitchen area is set up perfectly for all the role play a kitchen can offer, and I knew this would make a great addition to her kitchen. Casdon always creates toys that have many cognitive and developmental benefits, which you’ll see referred to below.

As always, the attention to detail is very impressive, and the bold, bright, and cheerful colours and designs are really eye-catching, perfect for getting little ones’ attention. It’s great to see how the mini hoops and beans hang from the cans, and the jacket potato and cheese add so much fun. There is a saucepan that comes with a lid so they can cook the food, and the set also includes a prop which mimics a block of butter.

I particularly love how the labels are exactly the same as the real thing, from ‘ESTd̲. 1869’ to the list of nutritional values, ingredients, and instructions on how to cook. This is a great way to encourage their reading skills. Anyone looking for ideas for gifts, this set is perfect.

Setting up is very easy. There is a can for the spaghetti hoops, where you will need to put the sticky label on, and a cardboard cut-out of the block of butter that you put together—this is very simple to do. The jacket potato opens up, and you can place the beans or hoops on it with the cheese on top. It really is that simple.

The imaginative play is lovely. Whether you’re role-playing by making dinner at home or eating out at a restaurant, this play set really does get the little ones’ imagination going. This encourages role-play, creativity, and storytelling, all of which help build confidence and fun. We even used some of the items for her shop, making it a great play set for different role-plays.

Each piece has been well thought of and designed for little hands. Not too big and realistic enough for the little ones. The compact size of each item is perfect for storing when not in use. All this works exceptionally well for the little one’s motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination.

This is a lovely set for encouraging solo play and works brilliantly when little ones are playing with you or their friends. It teaches teamwork, co-operation, taking turns, interaction, and communication. These help children build patience, empathy, and social interactions, all of which contribute towards learning and developing emotional regulation in a playful and imaginative way.

Top quality as always from Casdon and the materials of each item are strong, sturdy and robust, even when dropped. There are no rough edges to any of them and the art and paintwork are perfect. All this contributes to the fun and interactive play that is safe and withstands long-term use.

Developmental Benefits: Cognitive skills: Figuring out games and hoop placement promotes problem-solving and spatial awareness. Focus and attention: Sustained play helps develop concentration and persistence. Mathematical thinking: Sorting and stacking pieces introduces counting and sequencing concepts. Creativity: Imaginative play nurtures flexible thinking and storytelling.

A great addition for the littles ones, whether they have their own kitchen or you want to introduce role-play when you’re cooking or just some fun and interactive play. All this helps with imaginative and interactive play along with helping and creating motor skills and cognitive development.
