Would you rather bathe in the dishwasher or wash dishes in your bathwater? That is most likely a question not only you haven’t answered before but have never even thought about until now. It’s actually probably one of the least zany questions you could be asked to ponder when playing Killer Questions.
Killer Questions is a card game made by Ideal. It is essentially a variation on the game Would You Rather? The twist with this game is that to win you need to vote with the majority.
The game has a fantastic box. For a start, it’s sturdy, compact and has an eye catching design. The name and Grim Reaper are enough alone to catch my attention and make me want to find out more about the game. Inside, the play pieces are high quality. The cards are thick with a shiny coating. There are small cardboard playing pieces with little plastic stands. There is also a large Grim Reaper. He doesn’t add much to the gameplay, but I love the novelty of the figure!
The game rules are on the whole straightforward and simple to grasp. Would you rather is one of those games we’ve played at some point. There is a colour instruction sheet but it’s fairly sparse in information. We had to read through the rules a few times but still felt a little unsure about how parts of the game rounds worked. However, it’s one of those games in which you can play in your own way and still have fun.
The game is designed for 3+ players and aimed at 8+ years.
Players vote secretly with A and B answer cards. If you vote against the majority you are out and must turn your playing piece round. But it’s not over for you yet, if you can correctly guess who will go out in a subsequent round then you’re back in. We found the game didn’t work so well with the minimum three players. With so little players we found we all either voted the same or someone was out immediately and the game was over quickly.
If you have a large group to play then it’s a fab party game. It’s simple enough to be able to get straight into playing and will appeal to all ages. Some of the cards are really rather funny, giving us all a laugh and others are a case of needing to choose between the lesser of two evils!
Although a fairly family friendly game, there are some cards that I think are too mature for an eight year old.
Overall, it’s certainly a fun party game that can be played and enjoyed many times. It’s very well made and ideal if you are looking for something a bit different and quirky.
