VASO Schott Glass Drinking Straws Review

Reviewed by Louise Totton

It is the small changes that we make in our lives that can make a big difference, and that is especially the case when it comes to reducing our use of single use plastics. We are becoming more and more mindful of our impact on the environment and the options that are available to us at the moment to be more environmentally friendly are actually becoming very attractive propositions.

Lots of the big restaurant and takeaway chains have done away with plastic drinking straws completely which can only be a good thing. When you think about it, over the course of an average meal, you might consume 4 drinks, that’s an awful lot of non-decomposable plastic going to landfill. Restaurants have replaced these plastic straws with paper ones, but there are some far more stylish options available for at home and we have been trying one of them out.

VASO Schott Premium Glass Drinking Straws are a stylish and very trendy alternative to either single use or even reusable plastic drinking straws for the home, and we have thoroughly enjoyed trying them out. The straws are available in three lengths, 150mm (mini), 200mm (standard) and 230mm (large) and are made from German engineered Schott glass, with rounded corners and shatterproof construction that is stress tested to 16 Newton Metres (twice the maximum adult human bite capacity).

They are free from BPA, toxins, plastics, mineral oils and are recyclable, sustainable, very environmentally friendly and even dishwasher safe.

They really are quite stunning and add a real ‘adult’ feel to using a drinking straw. I have a tendency towards sensitive teeth and I have been using mine with my coffee – they are completely temperature resistant so even a boiling hot, fresh coffee poses no risk to them, which makes it far easier for me to enjoy my coffee. The longest straw is the perfect length for use with reusable coffee cups, meaning I can even enjoy my morning coffee on the go and not add to landfill in any way. They look quite stunning, and the shortest ones look especially effective in a cocktail or martini glass.

We have loved trying out these straws. The quality is superb, they look stunning and add a real sense of style to the dinner table or a drinks party. To be able to have all of this and for it to be a great environmental and ethical choice is a double bonus and we have had several friends at the house who have commented on just how much they like them.

These will be available to buy in a couple of months in single size packs of 4 and I don’t hesitate in recommending them to anyone who is looking to be both style and environmentally conscious.
