The Tina Turner Experience at The Hawth Crawley Review

The Hawth in Crawley is easy to find and has a large amount of free car parking. It is a modern venue with large auditoriums. There are plenty of toilets, a cafe, restaurant and a number of bars for reasonably priced refreshments. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. What’s great about The Hawth is that there are no restrictive view seats in my opinion. Wherever you get seated you will get a great view of the stage. I’m never disappointed when I visit there. Last night (Saturday 12 May 2018) I had the pleasure of seeing The Tina Turner Experience….

Tina Turner born Anna Mae Bullock in 1939 is one of the world’s biggest musical icons. She is one of the world’s bestselling artists of all time. Selling more than 200 million albums and singles worldwide to date. Tina is most famous for her energetic stage presence, powerful vocals, famous legs and her marriage to Ike Turner.

There is only one Tina Turner, but Julie Nevada certainly brought The Tina Turner Experience to The Hawth in Crawley. There are a lot of tribute acts out there doing the theatre circuits and I have seen a few of them. Julie and the show are by far the best I have ever seen. To use the word authentic probably doesn’t do the show enough justice. Julie was brilliant. Her stage presence, energy, mannerisms and her vocals were totally on point. If you close your eyes and just listened to the music tonight you would have thought you were listening to Tina herself.

Julie was complemented by a very confident and talented seven-piece band which included the talented Adele on the saxophone. The beautiful backing vocals of Holly, Sheila and Louise and five lovely young dancers.

The choreography, lighting and overall musical sound was spectacular. With the whole production coming together confidently and well thought out.

The costumes, which there were many added some glitz and glamour.

Julie covered many of the great hits by Tina Turner over the years. My favourites from last night were What’s love got to do with it, Let’s stay together and Private Dancer. The duets with the very talented vocalist Andy aka Rod Stewart / Bryan Adams were brilliant.

By the end of the show people were up on their feet and dancing in the aisles. This show is a must see for any Tina Turner fan.

Simply the best … don’t believe me then see for yourself! 5 out of 5 stars.
