Today my family and I went to see The Sooty Show Live at the King George’s Hall in Blackburn. It was a surprise for our 3 children (1, 4 and 9 years old) and keeping quiet was proving a task. When we arrived to ‘go shopping’ as the kids thought that’s what we were doing they noticed the Sooty posters on the theatre and asked could we go as they are massive Sooty fans and were unable to get tickets to our local theatre, it was then we told them that was the real reason we were there and the look on their faces were priceless!! Even more so when the Sooty van happened to pull up at the same time and Richard was lovely and more than willing to have a photo which 3 star struck children and a star struck daddy.

We got our tickets and took the excited family up to find our seat. The theatre was lovely and clean and very bright and nice and cool for such a warm day. Before we got to our seats we noticed the souvenir stall and got dragged their by the little ones, all the items were of good quality and reasonably priced, as we already had a Sooty and Sweep we just needed a Soo to complete our collection, a programme and a couple of flashing magic wands of course.

We got to our seats and waited and got more excited when the tannoy announced the show was about to start, and when the Sooty theme tune started the room filled with excited screams and cheers.

The show is about Sooty’s 5th birthday and we were having a party for him. It was well thought out and had many laughs not only from the children but the adults too. The audience was encouraged to join in and were up on their feet many times throughout the show. The main characters Richard, Sooty, Sweep and Soo were all there as well as a few party guests, Butch the dog and Ramsbottom the snake.

Each half of the show lasted around 30 minutes each and an interval of 15 minutes which was long enough especially with young children.

At the end of the show there was a meet and greet with Richard and Sooty, the queue for this was long but well worth the wait and was great seeing all the huge smiles on the children’s faces as they got up close with the super star Sooty himself!

An amazing day out and a fantastic show and something we would recommend to any fans of the show young and old.
