The Railway Rabbits: Berry Goes to Winterland by Georgie Adams Review

Reviewed by Helen Wyatt
My 7 year old daughter read this book and absolutely devoured it, finishing it in super quick time!
The cover of the book is very cute with a Christmas design. The blurb is enticing to young readers, making them want to find out the end of the story. There are lovely black and white illustrations dotted regularly throughout the book to complement the storyline, giving young readers something else to focus their interest on. The RRP on the back of the book is £4.99 which is a reasonable price for this read.
This is the second book in The Railway Rabbits series by Georgie Adams. A mysterious tunnel in the snow leads Berry to an exciting encounter with the Red Dragon – and Father Christmas himself! But, whisked away to Winterland, just how is Berry ever going to get home? It’s up to Wisher and the other riverside animals to track him down!
My 7 year old said the following about the book:
“This book was amazing! It had funny, silly, sad and happy parts. I really liked chapter 7. When I read it in class I was laughing out loud! All of it was really good and the other people who read this book are going to think it is good too.”
The book made my daughter want to read more in the series and she enjoyed it very much. I thought a very nice tough to the book was at the beginning, with a “meet the Railway Rabbits” section, introducing the reader to each of the characters. There is also a map at the beginning, assisting the reader to picture the story locations as the narrative unfolds.
I would recommend this book for any young reader becoming confident in independent reading.
