As a mum of three over the years I have received most of the standard mothers day gifts teddies, mugs, keyrings, chocolates and flowers. After 18 years of receiving these I still profess every year I honestly love everything my kids buy me whilst secretly hoping for something a little different than the norm. The Original Cake Company Mothers Day Chocolate Truffle Cake Selection is a gift I would honestly love to receive. It looks amazing and tastes just as good.

The Mothers Day Chocolate Truffle Cake Selection comprises of 9 pieces of luxury indulgent handmade chocolate truffle cake and fudgy brownie. These are hand decorated with indulgent caramel, chocolate curls, chocolate pieces, patterns, sugar flowers and hearts. Four of the designs are replicated twice (though with them being hand decorated actually all of them look slightly different) with an individual design in the centre. The decoration on the tops really gives them a luxury feel and give them a real wow factor. They look almost too good to eat. I honestly couldn’t wait to open them and taste them. The problem was they all looked so nice I wasn’t sure which one to choose first! The taste was rich but not overly sweet. One of the small pieces was just the right amount to eat at once. Unfortunately the kids spotted them so I had to share. They all loved them as well.
Presented in a pink cake box with clear front and gold embossing on the lid adds to the luxury feel. The cakes are presented on a gold cake board and pushed together so it almost looks like a mini cake. They are plastic wrapped inside the box for freshness. This also stops them getting damaged in transit.
These can be purchased online from the comfort of your own home and sent to an address of your choice. You can even request a preferred delivery date which they will do their best to deliver on but can’t be guaranteed. Standard delivery is via Royal Mail at £2.95. Next day delivery is available for £4.95. Shipping days are Monday to Thursday.
On the back of the box there is a full list of ingredients including any allergens. There is a shelf life of minimum 1 month from delivery. The best before date on the box I received was 01/07/2023.
The Original Cake Company does cake selection boxes for all kinds of occasions on their website including birthdays, easter, congratulations and have extras you can purchase such as personalised cards and alcoholic / non alcoholic drinks.
Like me I am sure most chocolate loving Mums would be delighted to receive this on Mothers Day. There is also a fruit cake version available. At £15.95 this is an affordable and beautiful gift.
