One of the many things I enjoy when reviewing products for What’s Good To Do is being introduced to companies that I was previously unaware of. The sort of businesses that I will remember and use again, long after I have completed the review itself. This is very much the case with the ARRAN Sense of Scotland.

ARRAN Sense of Scotland has the tagline Inspired by Nature, proudly made in Scotland. They have a lovely well illustrated website which really emphasises that point. It’s worthwhile spending some time exploring the website to see the full extent of their extremely comprehensive product range. You’ll discover everything from luxurious body care items for him and her to reed diffusers and candles for around the home.

For my review, I received a sturdy but not over-packaged 100ml bottle of Lochranza eau de toilette spray. It’s a luxuriously weighted bottle. Simple, yet ergonomically tactile. It exudes gravitas.

Lochranza eau de toilette spray contains vetiver, cedar, patchouli and anise. I discovered that Patchouli is part of the mint family. However, this fragrance does not smell of mint. It has an earthy, spicy, almost sweet aroma. The perfumers at ARRAN have perfectly blended the ingredients, creating a herbaceous refreshing scent, which makes this eau de toilette ideal for wearing every day in any season.

I must admit the longevity of the fragrance is not as high as some of the ‘headier’ aftershaves that I wear, however it really makes a refreshing change, and I’ve even had a few complimentary comments.

At over £40 a bottle, this is not cheap, but it can proudly sit alongside many far more expensive colognes.

If you discover you like the fragrance, and I’m quite confident that you will, why not consider purchasing the matching bath and shower gel, shaving gel, aftershave balm, and soap (If you’re considering purchasing these items as a gift, you can create your own gift box using the personalised gift builder when ordering directly from their website).

I was pleased to note that ARRAN Sense of Scotland state they do not test their products on animals. The company even won a veggie award in 2022  in the cruelty-free body care category (for its Calm Lavender & Chamomile Body Wash).

Although ARRAN promotes Lochranza as a product for him, I would easily consider this a unisex fragrance. It is a lovely alternative when compared to other highly advertised and considerably more well-known colognes.

If you purchase straight from ARRAN, they offer free delivery on orders over £40. At the time of writing, they were offering a free Reed Diffuser (worth £33) on orders over £60. There’s even a rewards scheme and a £15 credit for friend-referral (see website for current offers, terms & conditions, etc).

I really appreciated receiving this item and will undoubtedly purchase the product again. I’ll also consider other ARRAN Sense of Scotland products when purchasing gifts for friends and family.
