I was very fortunate to attend the A Hard Day’s Night: The Magic of The Beatles (Golden Anniversary Tour) concert at The Grove Theatre, situated in the centre of Dunstable. My friend was absolutely over the moon that I invited her to accompany me as she is a genuine Beatles number 1 fan who knew word for word all their songs.
Once I collected my tickets we ordered a quick drink at the bar where the staff were very friendly as usual and efficient. Once directed to our seats situated in Stalls G15 we were delighted with our view which was very central and perfect place to sit and see the show. There was an instant buzz of a very packed and excited audience waiting in anticipation for the show to commence which did so very punctually.
I would recommend this show to all Beatles fans, I myself grew up listening to my parents play the Beatles and I don’t think there are many people that wouldn’t recognise their music. I hadn’t realised I knew so many of their hits. The first half of this show was good, but the second half the audience was practically clapping, singing along and dancing almost the whole time. There was really good audience participation. I must add the guy who played Paul McCartney’s voice was spot on, really good, all the singers were good but he in particular was very convincing and brought quite a bit of humour too cracking jokes here and there along the way. If you were to shut your eyes you could of easily gone back in time and thought you was at a live Beatles concert as the vocals were truly amazing and that good. No wonder the Beatles were so successful as the musical journey was ace, every single song played was a hit with the audience and brought back such fond memories of when I was growing up.
I would totally recommend you going to watch this show, the audience was probably more an older audience however there were lots of children that came with their parents, grandparents etc… It was lovely seeing such a varied age range with groups of people and family celebrating together.
The costumes were very colourful and beautifully designed and all appropriate to each era! My favourite songs were all played but in particular I loved the hits covered which included:
Yellow Submarine
A Hard Day’s Night
Please Please Me
All You Need is Love
Abbey Road
Can’t Buy Me Love
Eight Days a Week
Go and watch this if you get the chance, I’m certainly going to download more Beatles to listen to. This is real music and I don’t think anyone would be disappointed going to watch this great performance.
Tickets ranging from £18.50/£19.50 – a great evening.
