If I had to list my favourite things, chocolate would feature very highly and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by my friends and family who all gifted me chocolate in one form or another for my recent birthday and Mother’s Day. Next the focus moves to Easter when there will even more chocolate to indulge in, usually we think of Easter Eggs as the go to gift, but a great alternative to the traditional chocolate egg could be a chocolate hamper.

Hampers.com’s strapline is “bringing joy to gifting” and there is a huge range of different hampers both sweet and savoury to choose from on their website. I was absolutely delighted to be asked to review the Classic Chocolate Hamper as a potential Easter gift. This retails at £40 and includes a range of chocolate treats. On the website the hamper is billed as “the ideal gift for chocoholics,”. Now we’re talking!

The hamper was delivered very quickly by courier within two days of it being ordered. Hampers.com aims to delivery in 2-3 days to the UK mainland and delivery is free if you spend over £50 (£5.99 if not). It was in a branded cardboard box and I couldn’t wait to open it. There was a gift card on the front of the box with a personal message, this was in a clear paper pouch so the packaging was fully recyclable which was good, as so often packages come with an excess of unnecessary plastic.

Inside the box was the hamper itself. When I say “hamper” it was actually more of a gift box than a traditional hamper, very understated with a gold H on the front. The box is sturdy with a magnetic flap so will be great to reuse once all the contents have been eaten.

In terms of the contents I’ve decided it will be easiest to list them in order of my preference, having diligently worked through the hamper with my family, for the purpose of this review.

Monty Bojangles Ruby Fruit Sunday Truffles – these were amazing, so chocolatey with a berry and biscuit centre. They were a different flavour to the “cookie moon” flavour listed on the hamper contents, but I’m sure any flavour would be equally as yummy as Monty Bojangles have always been a favourite of mine.

Millionaires Slice from Yorkshire Flapjack – this was also delicious with just perfect amounts of caramel and shortbread topped with chocolate. I only wish there had been more than one slice.

Speculoos Gourmet Popcorn from Joe & Sephs – this was a different flavour than the salted caramel and Belgian chocolate listed on the contents but was really nice. The popcorn was so caramelly (is that a word?!), spicy and moreish. I would gladly have eaten a much larger pack as the 32g did not last long enough.

Fudge Kitchen Double Chocolate – this was a pack of three pieces of gooey chocolatey fudge, very yummy and again I would have loved a larger pack.

Milk Chocolate and Honeycomb Crunch Chocolate from The Cambridge Confectionary Company – this was nice, but I was disappointed that the honeycomb didn’t really taste of much and in my opinion it was not the best chocolate bar I’ve ever tasted. It still got eaten very quickly by my family though. Again, this was a different flavour than listed on the hamper contents on the website.

Cookies and Cream Mini Bar also by the Cambridge Confectionary Company – again this was pleasant but, in my opinion, didn’t have a great depth of flavour, it was mainly sweet. It still disappeared pretty quickly when my sons got hold of it though.

Finally, there is a Gnaw Hazelnut Hot Choc Shot with marshmallows that I haven’t had a chance to try yet, but I am very much looking forward to it as hot chocolate is one of my favourite things. I’m really looking forward to sitting down to treat myself to this one.

Overall, the Classic Chocolate Hamper would make a wonderful gift for any chocolate lover, whether for Easter or any other special occasion, or even “just because”. There is a good range of products included, with something for everyone’s taste. In terms of value for money, I think £40 seems quite expensive when looking at the contents in isolation, but for the whole gift experience of receiving a lovely hamper it is definitely worth it. I would absolutely love to receive this, or any of the other hampers from the website, as a gift.
