This afternoon’s treat had been eagerly looked forward to by both my 5 year old daughter and myself for weeks and was not a disappointment.
After a leisurely drive on a sunny afternoon over to The Lowry Theatre in Manchester to see the performance of The Frog and The Princess, a puppet show based on the Brothers Grimm story about friendship and difference, we found the parking clearly signposted with lots of available parking.
As we had arrived a little bit early and as it was such a lovely afternoon we decide to enjoy a drink sitting in the unexpected April sunshine, an ice cold Pinot went down really well.
When we got into the theatre we were given our tickets and when the 10 minute warning was announced and we were escorted by some friendly staff to our allocated seating.
The theatre was much smaller than anticipated but this made it not overly intimidating for my 5 year olds first visit.
The performance was a puppet show cleverly put together with 2 puppeteers who controlled and performed the princess and frog puppets.
The children in the audience as well as the parents all found the show entertaining and the comedy moments raised the appropriate giggles from the adults as well as the children.
The meet and greet session at the end of the not too long 50 minute performance gave all the children the chance to shake the hands of the Princess and the Frog.
Obviously being so close to the shops in the Lowry centre it would have been rude not to finish of the afternoon with a little bit of window shopping.
All in all a very enjoyable afternoon for both my daughter and myself. A fun show for all the family.
