Situated in the heart of Birmingham less than 5 minutes from New Street Station, The Botanist is the perfect place to have a delicious meal in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
The venue itself is surprisingly roomy and light with a very warm and homely feel. With an open plan kitchen you can see a team of chefs freshly preparing your meal. There is a beautiful outdoor terrace which gives you a taste of the wonderful atmosphere and botanical garden style decor waiting for you inside. It is hard to believe you are in the middle of the city considering how spacious the whole venue is.
We were greeted warmly by staff and shown to a table quickly. Our server Marilyn was professional and very welcoming, even though the restaurant was busy we were given time to look at the impressive menus and were never forgotten about.
The Botanist boasts an impressive selection of drinks to suit all tastes including some delicious cocktails and a wide range of beers, ciders and ales from around the world.
The food menu has a good selection of dishes which includes hearty classics to more modern meals you would expect to find in a gastro pub. The meals are well presented and served in good portions. You will definitely be satisfied after these meals.
One of the visual delights from the menu are the “hanging kebabs” both savoury main meals and sweet desserts are a pleasure to see and to eat.
The rustic homemade chicken and chorizo pie was well made and deliciously seasoned with golden well-cooked pastry and served with fresh seasoned fries and mushy peas, which I can highly recommend along with a beautifully cooked lamb burger.
A strawberry and marshmallow kebab accompanied by smooth vanilla ice cream and a Sailor Jerry’s chocolate pouring sauce was a delightful end to a fabulous meal.
We will most certainly be visiting The Botanist again soon and would recommend others to take the opportunity to visit too.
