Thank you for the Music The ultimate tribute to ABBA Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
If you haven’t been before Aylesbury Waterside is a great venue not just for shows, but for live music. The venue lends itself well for any type of live band. So on a wet Sunday evening I wasn’t too surprised to join a long queue of music lovers waiting to get into the venue and enjoy all those ABBA tunes we know and love. There really was a wide spectrum of ages from the very young to the very old (young at heart).

ABBA’s first hit was recorded in 1973. That’s some fifty years ago, doesn’t that just blow your mind. I have always been an absolute mega fan of all things ABBA, so tonight was a real treat for me. These guys really try for the full authentic look, with great costumes full on ABBA style, the two ladies Agnetha and Anni Frid (Frieda) had the most gorgeous white boots in the first half and wore them with such panache. Benny and Bjorn also went with the look of back in the day and had wigs to match.

They really belt the hits out and I wasn’t disappointed at all, everything and more was belted out tonight. The show is very high energy and non stop, but equally they take the time to interact with the audience. It’s an all round feel good two hours plus of hit after hit. The two girls’ voices are powerful and spot on for all the hits. Everyone looked to be invested in the performance, they were dancing, clapping and generally completely immersed in a throw back to when music really was just the best. The show includes my all time favourites Dancing Queen, Mama Mia, Super Trouper and of course Thank you for the Music.

The show is billed as a tribute band, but they are so very much more. They take you back to your youth (well if you’re my age) reliving singing along to songs that just fill you with joy and make you want to dance. The audience was hanging on every song and note, and we didn’t miss the opportunity to sing and join in when asked, sometimes when we weren’t! You couldn’t fail to go see these guys and not leave with a huge smile on your face, toe tapping all the way home, ABBA tunes will be in my head for at least a week now.

We should all support these vents in our local community, they are of a fantastic standard, you really don’t have to visit the likes of London to see top class acts, they are right here just down the road from us. A great night out, you couldn’t fail not to enjoy every moment, it’s a heartfelt Thank you for the Music from me.
