‘Explosive and passionate… out of this world… simply breath-taking’ are all words to describe last night’s Tango Moderno at Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Myself and my Grandma were given the opportunity to watch and review Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace’s new and spectacular show, Tango Moderno which is showing at Mayflower Theatre in Southampton from 13th February to 17th February and will be touring around the United Kingdom until middle of April.

We arrived an hour before the performance and found parking easily, we were able to get into the Mayflower and enjoy a drink in the bar where we were served by Sylvianne who was polite and helpful the whole time we were being served by her. Once we had been shown to our seats by the steward we were able to get comfy and ready for the show which started promptly and on time. The set was exquisite, and every detail had been taken care of. It clearly depicted a scene from a city life with houses and windows to give you a glimpse into everyday people’s lives.

The story was told by the narrator, Tom Parsons, who told it through rhyme and song. It was witty and fitted with today’s modern and busy society. It told the story of love and how people can go through life with one set of steps but loosing themselves along the way and needing to be guided and shown new steps in order to find love.

Vincent and Flavia act as these guides aiding couples to meet and fall in love learning different dance steps along the way. They bring dances such as Rumba, Waltz, Cha Cha Cha and of course the Argentine Tango to life set against modern music such as 7 Years; Haven’t Met you yet; If I were a Painting; Pack Up; The First Time I ever Saw your Face and When a Man Loves a Women.

There are 5 female and 4 male dancers that dance alongside Vincent and Flavia a well as the Narrator. All of these dancers are exceptional in their own right performing both Ballroom and Latin dance routines as well as street and hip-hop dances but it is of course Vincent and Flavia that steal the show with their exceptional, flawless and exquisite dancing that only they can create.

Tango Moderno is a must see performance and is Vincent and Flavia at their best.
