VTech Toot Toot Drivers Fix And Fuel Garage Review

When I am looking for a great children’s toy gift, I want a toy which is good-quality, fun, stimulates the imagination and holds the children’s attention for a good length of time. The VTech Toot-Toot Fix and Fuel Garage succeeded in meeting all of my needs and more!

The Fix and Fuel Garage came packaged in a large, recyclable cardboard box (45cm x 34cm x 20cm) with every component neatly arranged inside. Some items were wrapped in sealed plastic bags but where possible, VTech had clearly become more environmentally aware as some items were wrapped in tissue paper and others were placed in the main box without packaging. Assembling the multi-level garage was fun in itself, and a collaborative task which could be done with the children. When the garage, which also contained a car wash, convenience store, tuning station and petrol pump, was complete, I was confident that the toy was constructed of strong plastic and would survive the occasional firm touch a toddler might subject it to!

What I really liked about the Fix and Fuel Garage was the interactivity that the toy enables. As well as ramps to push the car down, you can push buttons to raise and lower the car on the repair lift and spin the car wash roller, and you can move the exit gate up and down. However, the most magical part of the toy for me was the sound effects. The Fix and Fuel Garage came with a stock car which I secretly loved given the fact that I grew up going stock car racing as a treat! There are other vehicles to purchase separately such as a race car, pick-up truck and police car. The stock car says statements such as, “I’m a speedy stock car!” and “Let’s share this adventure!” all with a happy tone. The stock car also plays three songs and six melodies, one of the songs included lyrics about taking turns which I thought was a nice teaching point about positive relationships for young children. In addition to the songs and melodies, the Toot-Toot stock car responded to the six SmartPointTM locations spread out on the garage with different phrases, music and sound effects. The wide range of vehicle responses (60+) means that the child never gets bored and can learn new vocabulary.

This would make a wonderful gift for Christmas or the birthdays for the little ones in your life and I will certainly be recommending it to others to purchase. I did not think the RRP of £49.99 was too bad considering the range of cause and effect actions and all of the sound effects.

I absolutely loved playing alongside children with the VTech Toot-Toot Fix and Fuel Garage and it has become a firm favourite in this house. The packaging and VTech Toot Toot Drivers website show that you can expand the set to connect to an airport, a 3in1 raceway and a fire station – which I can only imagine would extend the children’s imagination even further.
