Clare Teal

Yorkshire born Clare Teal is one of the most successful female British jazz singers in decades with a string of 10 albums behind her, including the UK National Top 20 and multi award winning Sony released album "Don't Talk".
After a marvellously successful 2011 (highlights included supporting Liza Minnelli at Kenwood House, performing at the Royal Albert Hall with the John Wilson Orchestra as part of the televised BBC Proms, picking up one of BASCA’s coveted Gold Badge awards alongside Mick Hucknell and Joan Armatrading, not to mention being crowned Yorkshire Arts Personality of the Year for a second time), Clare was very much looking forward to a more restful 2012. Not so 2012 is already shaping up to be even busier. After a two month trip to New Zealand and Hong Kong, Clare returned to the UK and her extended "Feeling Good" tour. In between dates Britain’s Queen of Swing continues to make and present 2 weekly big band shows for BBC Radio 2, and write a regular newspaper column, and In June found time to sing for a very complimentary Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle alongside Sir Tim Rice and Rick Wakeman.
Plaudits and accolades continue to flood in for her critically acclaimed 10thalbum 'Hey Ho'. As well as ‘Feeling Good’ there are other projects in the pipeline, In July Clare brought the house down at Chelsea’s beautiful Cadogan Hall with a smash new big band concert celebrating the great Peggy Lee, August saw a John Wilson reunion concert with the RTE Concert Orchestra in Dublin. Clare is now hard at work writing and recording her new album which will be scheduled for release in 2013.
Clare hits Autumn 2012 with a bang and a new show – ‘Purveyors of Sunshine’ A tour set to cheer and warm the cockles of our hearts in these recession busting times in a way that that only the gracious, extraordinarily talented, passionate and humorous Clare Teal can. December sees the welcome return of Clare’s glittering and fabulous, not to mention quite camp, – Festive Fiesta.
As always, Clare surrounds herself with ridiculously talented musicians, so whether you catch the duo, quartet or big band show the instrumental talent is breathtakingly good. This tour will see Clare visit many of her favourite towns and venues taking in plenty of new places along the way.
Clare is also to present and mentor musicians in a new BBC Leeds andBBC Radio 2 lead programme entitled “Build a Big Band”. Auditions were held in July and from now till October the chosen musicians will be coached culminating in a concert at Leeds Town Hall on October 30thproceeds of which will go to Children In Need.
