I think most people will recognise Stitch he’s the cute bright blue fluffy character from Disney’s LILO and Stitch movies and seems to be everywhere. I’ve seen these movies with my granddaughter she is obsessed with Stitch and just about everything she owns is embellished with Stitch, with great big eyes and ears and sharp destructive teeth he’s very cute but is mischievous and has a wild destructive side that children love.

A mixture of animatronics and puppetry this FX Disney Stitch is 18 inches tall he’s soft and fluffy enough to cuddle up to whilst having a solid electronic hand control in the back of his head which can be used to hold Stitch if you want to play with him like a puppet but he is also very much like a regular teddy. The hand control was big enough for an adults hand but small enough for our six year old to handle, she soon discovered that she could also operate the eyes and ears from this control.

There are lots of sensors, one on the top of his head, one on his nose and one in his mouth which will activate sound and movement such as ears moving up and down, eyes blinking and chattering in his own unique language, and he makes such a cute purring noise if you stroke the top of his head, when switched on he welcomes you with the Hawaiian greeting “aloha” but so far this is the only proper word I’ve heard him say, if he likes something his ears will go up if he doesn’t his ears go down the box states that these actions can be combined to create over 100 character behaviours, the more you interact with Stitch the more behaviours you will find. If you leave him alone after about 30 seconds he will start making noises to attract your attention, this freaked us out a little when it first happened. But you can switch him off completely on the battery pack.

Stitch originated from a laboratory experiment and the packaging looks like the capsule he was created in, the sturdy plastic back inside the pack also serves as a stand to keep him on.

Inside the box we also found a certificate confirming that our puppet was from the first production run to enter the market.

There are some instructions but it’s very much a learn as you play toy , from an adults perspective I would recommend scanning the QR code on the box and watching the short clip of how to get Stitch out of the packaging I spent a good 5 minutes trying to do this, it’s one of those things that’s quite simple when you know how but I couldn’t work it out from the written instructions on the pack and bear in mind batteries are not included, you need 3 x AAA also a very small screwdriver to access the battery compartment.

Suitable for ages 6 and up this product would make a great Christmas gift and not just for children I know some teenagers and adults who are big Stitch fans and would love to receive this.
