Jack and the Beanstalk at the Royal Leamington Spa theatre was a perfect family afternoon’s entertainment.

The Royal Leamington Spa Theatre is a beautifully presented theatre. Spotlessly clean with caring, professional staff. The one area which the theatre is lacking is parking, all the nearby parking is only for 2 hours. But we easily sorted this by parking in the town centre car park and making the walk back to the theatre.

This show had something for everyone, we have five, four and one year old children and they all loved it! The baby was clapping along, and the children were in stiches. There were enough more adult jokes which flew over their heads to keep us adults giggling too.

We felt very much included in the performance as there was plenty of audience participation. Here’s a hint… if you’re not too keen on being too involved avoid the front row.

The real star of the show was Dame Trot, she was hilarious! When things went slightly off course from the script she was a real star and carried on giving a seamless performance. The props were outstanding, the giant which really walked and the beanstalk which really grew!

My favourite part of the show where I couldn’t quite see from laughing was when Dame Trot and Simon made lemon meringue pies with some great slap stick humour.

All the main parts were really well cast, the fairy had a wonderful singing voice. But the little fairies stole the show, they looked so young but danced and sang with real spirit and helped bring the story alive.

Costumes and sets were of a high quality. Dame Trot had a very stylish wardrobe with numerous wigs and killer heels.

The interval gave us a chance to stretch our legs and let the children get the wiggles and squirms away. There was a selection of drinks, nibbles and flashing toys available to purchase before the show and during the interval.

I don’t want to give away the twists and turns in the story, go see and find out, you won’t be disappointed.

I would highly recommend this to everyone of any age, everywhere I looked people were smiling, laughing and having fun. The perfect start to the holiday season.

Outstanding!
