Southern Comfort, the classic 1980’s cult film, is re-released on DVD and for the first time ever on Blu-ray on 26 November 2012.

In 1973 the Louisiana National Guard are on routine training exercises and a 9 man unit are sent off into the Bayou for patrol. Their guns are equipped with blank bullets. When their way is blocked by a river that has expanded due to heavy rainfall their steal some boats from the local Cajun hunters.

The hunters return to see the soldiers in their boats and are not happy and when one of the soldiers fires his machine gun at them this starts of a war that is going to be very difficult to win.

The part-time soldiers are now fighting for their lives in the swampland and with no map, compass or radio they have to try and stay alive in unfamiliar territory until help comes looking for them.

Overall, Southern Comfort in an entertaining war film about survival. Very tense, gripping and violent. Well worth a watch!
