Having a two year old who likes to remove her socks at every available opportunity (generally at the most inopportune moments), the prospect of not having to search high and low for a misplaced sock was too good an opportunity to pass up, so I jumped at the chance to review a pair of Sockatoos.

Sockatoos are award-winning baby and pre-school trousers with integrated socks, which cleverly look like separates. They won a bronze ‘Made for Mums’ Award in 2020. As the socks are sewn into the trousers, it’s impossible for the socks to be removed by little hands. Brilliant idea!

I was sent the Sockatoos Original Joggers in Pink to review. The joggers arrived beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and an outer plastic bag. My first impression of the joggers was that the material oozed quality, they were nice and thick; 100% premium cotton, which is just what I like for my children.

In terms of appearance, I liked the contrast of the grey joggers, with the bright pink back pocket, drawstring, waistband and the lighter grey socks had the same pink toes and heel. They were also beautifully stitched, adding to the feeling of quality.

The joggers are available from size 3 months to 4 years, which is the ideal age range for a product of this type. My daughter is 2 and a half and I found the age 2-3 years were on the larger side of the size, so they’re going to last a good while yet. The drawstring can be used to adjust the waist size, so they didn’t constantly fall down, which is often a problem she encounters too.

When I first put the joggers on my daughter, it took a little bit of adjustment to get her feet into the integrated socks, but I think that’s because I’m so used to putting socks on her separately. My daughter looked comfortable in them and the socks were a good fit on her feet.

I also loved the fact that the socks had non-slip grips on the soles, as it’s always a worry that when shoes are taken off, socks can slip on non-carpeted floors, potentially causing an accident.

As well as removing her socks, my daughter also has a dislike of having a gap between the top of her socks and her trousers, when her trouser legs inevitably ride up due to wriggling. Sockatoos remove this ‘gap’ issue completely, which is a massive bonus as far as I’m concerned. I can see how this would also be a real advantage for little ones being carried in a baby sling, keeping their little legs nice and cosy on chilly days.

The joggers are priced at £24 each, which I feel is at the top end of the scale for similar products. It’s unusual that all sizes are priced the same, as in my experience smaller sizes, such as the baby sizes, are usually slightly cheaper than the larger sizes such as pre-school, which I’ve always assumed is due to the amount of material used to make the item. Although the joggers are good quality, I’m not entirely convinced I’d spend £24 on a pair of children’s joggers as they grow out of them so quickly and often end up staining their clothes after a couple of wears too. I tend to spend a bit more on those signature items for special occasions, rather than everyday wear.

These joggers are ideal playwear or perfect for a day at nursery, as they are comfy and flexible allowing lots of movement. They’d also be great paired with wellies too, as that often creates a sock gap issue.

The joggers washed well, maintaining the quality appearance. They can be washed at 30ºC and even tumble-dried on low, both of which are a big advantage these days.

As well as joggers, Sockatoos have a range of cords and jeans, which again have colour coded integrated socks. These range in price from £28-32 and can be found here: https://sockatoos.co.uk/collections/all

Sockatoos offer free delivery for purchases over £50, with the added bonus of 10% off your first purchase if you join the Sockatoos club. With standard shipping costing £3, taking 3-5 days.

In summary, I loved the product and can definitely see a need for them for several different reasons as previously explained. The only reason I didn’t give the product the top 5 out of 5 rating, is that I think the price point is high and would price the average mum out of buying them.
