I was sent a packet of Skipper’s Fish Skin Cubes for my dogs to try. I had not even fully opened the packet before my two dogs were at me feet wagging their tails wanting to see what I had for them. To the human nose the skin cubes do have a slight fish smell which is to be expected but it is not an overpowering smell. My dogs though had caught a whiff of the treats and were excited as they knew that they were going to get a treat.

The skin cubes are all natural and come in three sizes small, medium and large. We tried the small cubes which are roughly 2cm x 2cm. An individual treat didn’t last my dogs very long a matter of seconds but they are German shepherds and there are not many treats that do last them long. A few skin cubes each pleased my dogs. Though no doubt they would have munched their way through the entire bag given half the chance. The large skin cubes would be a much better size for my dogs however the small cubes are a good size for rewarding good behaviour and for use in training. They are a handy size for treats on a walk if you like to reward your dog’s good behaviour on walks.

The treats are packaged in a clear plastic bag which is not easy to open without any scissors. Once the bag is opened the bag cannot be resealed. I don’t have a box to store dog treats in so the bag being able to be resealed would be handier for me especially with a bag of treats that is designed to last quite a while.

Unlike a lot of treats that I have tried for my dogs in the past there has been no nasty side effects from the skin cubes. A lot of treats give my dog’s smelly wind or worse. The all natural ingredients in the skin cubes mean that the treats don’t have an undesired effect on my dog’s digestive system. They also don’t leave the dogs with fish breath. I am also happy to give them a treat that is all natural that they enjoy instead of giving them standard off the shelf dog treats.

At £7.50 for a 500g bag the treats are a little more expensive then the majority of dog treats on the market but if you are looking for a natural treat for your dogs then the skin cubes are reasonably priced.

I would buy the Skipper’s skin cubes again for my dogs and will be having a look at what other dog treats are in the Skipper’s range. My dogs would definitely recommend the skin cubes they have been enjoying them.
