If you’re raising a four‑year‑old girl, it’s very likely you may be living through the mini ‘Imelda Marcos era’. In our house, if I buy my daughter any new shoes, she somehow senses it and appears wearing them instantly! So when I was offered the chance to review the ToeZone Sara Girls’ Brown Leather and Suede Fur Warm Boots, I jumped at the chance.
We didn’t have to wait long at all for them to arrive, just a few days. The boots arrived in a plastic envelope and inside I found a beautiful shoebox – it was so lovely to see a shoebox so clearly designed specifically for children, with a teddy bear design and a really clever ribbon handle, negating the need for a bag if purchased from a shop.
My daughter was bursting with excitement to get the box open and try the boots on. From the moment she saw the boots she wanted them on her feet – no coaxing her to ask for her to try them on. The zips were down and they slipped on beautifully. I don’t blame her impatience, they are a thing of beauty and in all honesty, I wouldn’t have minded a pair in my size, myself.
Once the initial excitement eased, we took a proper look at these gorgeous boots. I instantly loved the soft to the touch combination of the leather and suede upper with star and heart stitching– all too often boots can feel overly rigid and restrictive, which is not what you want for this age group, with their boundless energy. I also really liked the faux-fur trim which added a nice cosy and warm feel to these winter boots. Topped off with the heart shaped buckle, which helped make them stylish without being overly grown-up. The heart-buckle is adjustable to help with a secure fit.
The boots have a textile lining, which is warm and soft without feeling overly bulky. These boots will be comfortable for all day wear.
The sole of the boots are constructed of man-made materials, perfect for non-slip, providing excellent grip. Due to the colour of the soles, they are non-marking, which is an added bonus. There is also a foot measurement feature on the sole, allowing you to quickly check whether the boots will be the correct size for the child, at a glance. If the child’s foot encroaches on the red zone, then you know instantly that the boots will be too small. I found this a really handy guide. The boots fasten with a side zip, which I find really helpful to help my daughter shoes on and off independently (as it’s been made very clear that she doesn’t need my help!)
We received the boots in infant size 10, which were slightly on the large size for my daughter, but she’ll soon grow into them I’m sure. The boots are available from infant size 8 through to infant size 13.
The boots have an RRP of £35, which I think is reasonable for leather/suede boots such as this. They are hard-wearing and well-made. I’ve previous experience of ToeZone shoes, as my son has school shoes from this brand, which are wearing very well indeed. Based on my experience with ToeZone, I’d definitely look to buy more shoes for my children from the brand and would definitely recommend them to my friends with children. These boots would make a perfect gift for a shoe-loving youngster in your life.
