Grandmother Lola hates sardines, but Grandfather Lolo loves them. He eats them every day!

When she runs out of sardines one day, Lola can’t bear to think of Lolo going hungry. She decides to go fishing – with unexpected results! What on earth will Lola eat when she discovers that sardines are the only food on offer? And what will Lolo do when he finds out that his beloved Lola is missing?

I have just read the book ‘Sardines of Love’ by Zurine Aguirre with my four year old son. He seemed to really enjoy this book, he listened to the story and looked enthusiastically at the illustrations.

This story was a little different but in children’s books that is a good thing. My child liked the story and I was happy as it was a feel good story with a happy ending the way children’s books should be.

My son really liked the illustrations and I have to say they are of a very high quality which sometimes is not always the case. They were very clear, colourful and very well printed, my son was able to tell me with ease what everything was on each page.

I also liked the way the writing was in different places on all of the pages, it helps keep the book interesting and goes well with the illustrations.

My son’s favourite part was when Grandmother Lola went fishing and fell straight into Jeff’s mouth and his belly was like a house. I did not think my son would stop laughing.

I would definitely recommend this book to parents of young children and I cannot wait to read more from Zurine Aguirre with my son.
