In an era that seems to be overloaded with options to stream TV programmes, I can’t believe there was actually a time where we had to wait to a certain time of day to be able to watch our favourite programme.

In our house we are lucky enough to have smart TVs and access to stream all our subscriptions such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus. However, my children have an older standard TV at their grandparents house and now that we are slowly easing out of lockdown, it is the perfect time to set up their bedroom ready for those long awaited sleepovers.

The Roku Premiere is the perfect device for enabling you to access an abundance of free channels, plus streaming services such as Netflix that you have to pay a subscription for. My children currently use their games console at my parents to access these services but having this Roku stick is a much more straightforward way of them accessing their channels.

It is carefully and compactly packaged and really easy to set up. It makes 4K and HDR streaming easy and turns your standard TV into a smart TV. It comes with a simple remote and premium HDMI cable, in addition to offering a free mobile app available on iOS and Android.

The remote included is a simple remote which includes only the necessary buttons that you need to use the device. This is perfect for the children as they don’t get too confused by having too many buttons to choose from.

You are about to stream movies and shows for free or at the lowest cost with unbiased results ranked by price from Roku Search. Only pay for what you want, when you want it, with no monthly equipment fees or hidden charges. It also allows you to private listening, to cast music and photos to your TV.

Once we had set up the device, we allowed the children to try it out. They were over the moon that they could now so easily access Netflix and Disney Plus at their room in their grandparents house with having to load up their Games console. It was a definite hit. They had a play about with the remote and were happy with the overall content on the stick.

With a recommended retail price of £39.99, it is an absolute steal and I wish we had got one sooner. My children now have a huge range of channels that they did not have before and they are so pleased.

Apps and features:

Overall, we are very happy with the device and would rate it 5/5. We are going to a cottage in the summer for a holiday and we are planning to take it with us incase the TV doesn’t have the features we are used to at home. It is compact enough to just pop in my handbag and take with us.
