AlcoSense Lite 2 is a breathalyzer made to be used the morning after a night of drinking to determine if you are safe to drive. Considering it can sometimes be really hard to tell how much alcohol you still have in your body – especially if you have been drinking all day or had a variety of different alcoholic drinks, it is really great that there are products to make sure you are legally under the drink driving limit. Particularly as with only one-eighth of the English limit in your system, you are 37% more likely to be involved in a fatal accident than when you are completely sober.
On arrival I opened the packaging and found the AlcoSense Lite 2, an instruction manual and 3 AAA batteries. The AlcoSense Lite 2 is pocket sized ((HxWxD): 110 x 45 x 21mm) and is meant to be really easy to use. Upon reading the instruction manual I realised I needed blow tubes to be able to use it. The manual specifically says that if you just blow into the breathalyser then you can damage it.
The instructions are really easy to follow and you can choose to change the drink drive limit. At the back of the manual is a table with a variety of countries and their Blood Breath Ratio (BBR) as well as their blood alcohol ‰BAC limit.
To use the breathalyzer you need to turn the power on and then wait for it to self clean (around 40 seconds). You then need to insert a blow tube, wait for it to tell you to blow (once it reaches 0 on the self clean it beeps and shows a blowing symbol) before blowing continuously until it beeps for you to stop. The result then appears a few seconds later and the manual explains all the different results. It also says not to perform a breath test within 90 minutes of drinking and to leave a minimum of 5 minutes between tests.
I did wonder how accurate the readings were but when I went on their website I was encouraged to see that every AlcoSense unit is tested for accuracy three times before leaving the factory. As a result, they say “ our quality control is arguably the best in the industry, meaning that you can have 100% faith in our products.”
This is also not the only breathalyser they do. On the AlcoSense website they have a range of models which means you can find a breathalyzer to suit every need, whether you want a single use breathalyser or the £249.99 AlcoSense Ultra Fuel Cell Breathalyzer which is designed to be the ultimate personal breathalyzer.
If you do drink and need to drive the next day then it makes sense to have one of their products – they are quick and easy to use and give you peace of mind that you can safely drive wherever you need to go.
