Arriving at the show tonight, and there was a babble of excitement from everyone. The audience, a mix of ages but mostly women, were all excited about the show.

Listed 2nd in Rolling Stone’s list of greatest singers of all time in 2023, Adenike Adewale brought to the Lighthouse in Poole an evening of high emotion and an absolutely phenomenal vocal performance, celebrating the voice that is … Whitney Houston. Queen Of The Night – A Tribute to Whitney Houston stars Adenike, who featured on The Voice UK in 2021. Her powerful vocals, together with a live band, were a great recipe for a wonderful Friday night.

Adenike had some amazing outfit changes which happened so quickly, from dress to trousers. The outfits featured some iconic Whitney style outfit changes, from lots of floor length glittery gowns, jeans and leather jacket combo and the fabulous armour with beaded dress.

I loved how the show really supported their backing dancers, singers and musicians. It felt like everyone was given their time to shine which was great. The featured singer Holly, had an amazing voice which was showcased in a duet with Adenike. The backing singers were good, but not as powerful vocally as the feature singer.

Whitney’s songs and life were iconic, if somewhat tragic, which is reflected in her songs. Such powerful and moving songs, delivered with such a great delivery from Adenike. The classics such as I Wanna Dance With Somebody, One Moment In Time, I’m Every Woman, I Will Always Love You, My Love Is Your Love, So Emotional, Run To You, Saving All My Love, How Will I Know, Million Dollar Bill. There were several standing ovations throughout the show but especially for Run to You, One Moment In Time, Greatest Love Of All, those legendary songs that showcased such a strong voice.

Adenike has Whitney’s mannerisms down to a tee! The hand gestures, the hand shake on the high, long notes and the way she moved around the stage. At times, I felt like I could have been in a Whitney concert in the 90s. “Queen Of The Night – A Tribute to Whitney Houston” celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025 and it would be great to have the show back next year. The show has more than 100 shows scheduled across the UK.

I thoroughly enjoyed an incredible evening of fantastic vocals, Whitney stylings and mannerisms. The only thing that caused a little irritation was the foot traffic in and out the Concert Hall to the bar. As we were entering the Hall, it was announced that the bar would be closed until the interval, but there were quite a few people who led the charge to and from the bar which was quite distracting.

This is a one night only show, tickets started from £24.50 and I would definitely book tickets again in the future if the show tours again . The show was 2 hours 20 minutes long with an interval.

I would give this amazing shows 5/5. Thank you for the invite Lighthouse!
