Fabulous Flowers: The Gift of Colouring for Grown Ups Review

Reviewed by Sarah Wallis
The Fabulous Flowers book is approx. 20cm square, with a sturdy attractive cover, it has a black and white print which is partially coloured in as a teaser for the multitude of patterns ranging from Liberty style prints, to quite hippy 70’s images all very inviting with 80 pages to choose from. The patterns are printed on both sides of quality smooth paper, so no bleed through of ink or colour, I was eager to find some quiet time to see if now as a grown up I could finally stay inside the lines!
I’m not naturally a creative person, I have lots of ideas in my head but not always the skill to translate those ideas into reality, so to be presented with such a wide range of pictures to colour meant that I had lots of choice. I managed to locate a range of coloured pencils that I was happy with, settled down, and then totally switched off – I was absorbed and totally oblivious to the normal hustle and bustle of the evening. I thoroughly enjoyed completing my first one, and then another! I am now looking forward to finding more idle moments to carry on.
I’d like to see a version that are postcards, or greetings cards that you can colour and then pull out of a book to use and send to friends.
At £7.99, it is more likely that I would buy it as a treat for me, but more likely as a present for a like-minded friend, along with some lovely colouring pencils.
