Have a Warm & Dry Winter with Didriksons Review

Reviewed by David Savage

Winter has arrived with snow and rain in Manchester and the temperature today was -1°. We were going out to the Christmas Market in Manchester and as it was so cold the children needed to be wrapped up warm, so it was an ideal time to try the boys in the new winter coats from Didriksons.

Didriksons are a Swedish company that offer rain, windproof and waterproof outdoor clothing that adapts to the elements keeping you warm and dry. They have been doing this for over 100 years (since 1913) so have plenty of experience and it does show in their clothing range.

This year we received two new winter coats for the boys (5-years-old twins); Sten Kid’s Jacket in Plum and the Storlien Kid’s Jacket in Red. Both were size 110 (age 4-5 years) and are a bit big on the boys, but as the boys are on the small size I would say the sizing is true.

The Sten Kid’s Jacket is available in sizes 80 to 140 (age 1 to 9-10 years). It is available in two colours; Khaki and Plum. The Sten is a two-tone jacket (blue with khaki or plum) and has a whole host of features, including STORMsytem – 100% windproof and 100% waterproof and more: adjustable cuffs, adjustable hem, adjustable and detachable hood, detachable synthetic fur, chin guard, ergonomic cut, extend size (there is a seam inside the coat that when cut away the arms can be extended by one size so the coat is able to grow with the child, ensuring you get a longer use of the coat), glove security loop, inside elastic cuffs with thumbhole, inside gaiter, reflective (for those darker nights), a covered zipper at the front and two pockets with snap fasteners.

The Storlien Kid’s Jacket is also available in sizes 80 to 140 but is available in four colour options; Navy, Red, Lilac and Kryptonite Green. It also features the STORMsystem and has the same features as the Sten but with an added snow skirt on the inside.

On our trip to the Christmas Market, both coats kept the boys warm and dry and very well protected against the wind and snow. Not once did they complain of being cold despite the -1° temperature. Both coats have a very good weight to them and are well padded, so even before putting them on you could tell they were of extremely good quality and would do the job. We have had other Didriksons coats in the past and they have always lasted (the boys outgrew them and the coats are still in good condition).

While the coats may be considered on the expensive side (around £90 for the Sten and around £80 for the Storlien), they are definitely value for money and an excellent quality purchase. They are very warm, keep you dry, are extendable so you will get a lot of wear out of them, they have reflective safety strips, which at this time of year when the days are getting darker quicker they kids can be seen in the dark by passing traffic, and the fabric is soft, and securely stitched together.

These winter coats from Didriksons are perfect for the cold winter months and will last through next winter as well.

Quality coats that keep the children warm, dry and protected from the winter weather. We cannot fault them.
