The Waldorf Hotel, London have just launched for 40 days and 40 nights the ‘Playmobil Suite’ to mark the iconic German toy company’s 40th birthday. Playmobil is owned by Geobra Brandstatter, Horst Brandstatter & Hans Beck. They started creating toys in 1974 launching knights, Indians & construction ranges. The brand has grown into one of the biggest toy companies in the world.
I attended the launch party with my partner and his 2 children Bruce aged 11 and Faye aged 5. We were shown into a large glorious function room where everything in sight was Playmobil. 4 foot high characters were dotted around the room, balloons everywhere, tables and chairs for the adults and lots of display sets of Playmobil all over the place. Children were everywhere all trying to make sure they got to have a play with everything. There were some really cool displays too. Us adults could all be seen trying to have a sneaky play if the kids allowed us. The children at the launch were a varied range of ages but there seemed to be something for everyone. From the standard imaginative play sets to remote control, there really was a great variety of choice.
As lunchtime approached, we were treated to a fine selection of sandwiches, crusts already cut off, chicken pieces, and little portions of fish and chips which seemed to be a hit with most of the kids! Juices and milk were provided for the children with Playmobil boys and girls cups, and coffee/tea and cold drinks for the adults. After lunch there was an entertainer for the kids who did a little show. Then the kids soon got back to playing with the toys.
The suite itself is a play haven for kids to enjoy, whilst allowing mum and dad time to relax and enjoy the splendour of this wonderful spacious room. Adults can enjoy the kingsize bed or the bath with television with built in surround, knowing that the kids are occupied in their own little worlds through creative play. The children’s part of the suite has lifesize Playmobil characters (well child size), a large television which I doubt would get much of a look in, cosy bean bags, different Playmobil sets ranging from Pirates, Dragons, Princesses, Zoo animals to name just a few, a football table, colouring sheets, balloons and a pull out double bed with Playmobil duvet cover. The whole room is exciting, enticing and full of colour. Every kids dream hotel room!
This is a great idea for parents. Most kids would be very bored in a hotel room, this is just the thing to keep little people occupied. I am sure your kids would be delighted if you took them to stay here for the night.
