Easter is just around the corner and with Spring also bursting into life, this is the perfect time to let your little humans explore and quite literally ‘capture’ all fun and excitement that this time of year has to offer using the Photo Creator Kids Instant Camera.

Aimed at children aged 4+, this is a straightforward and simple to operate instant camera offering 3 mechanisms of use: instant prints, videos, and selfies.

Clicking the link below, shows the two fun designs that the Photo Creator instant cameras come in: blue rocket ship theme or pink unicorn theme. They can be purchased from Argos along with the refill paper kits for printing the black and white instant prints onto;

Although the camera device is aimed at children, there are a couple of items that I think will require adult supervision and assistance with…
Although I love that this gadget has a built-in rechargeable battery (please note that it is not replaceable though), I think an adult may be required to carry out the recharging process. A small rubber cover on the side of the camera, when opened, allows access to the charging port as well as a slot for a micro SD card. A charging cable is provided with the camera whereby you insert the USB-C cable (the small end) into the camera port whilst the other end (large end) inserts to the USB port of a computer. If you don’t have a computer, you could still charge the device from a 3 pin (or equivalent) USB wall sockets/mains adaptor (not provided although most people own one of these for other electronics that use similar charging methods). When charging, the camera will automatically turn off and a red LED light highlights once the device is charging. This red light will turn off once the camera is fully charged.

The camera can automatically be used to print instant photos (your child can start merrily snapping away as soon as they open the box). However, should you wish to utilise the video option or store photos in the device rather than immediately printing them, then a micro-SD card will also need to be bought and inserted. Please note, the SD card needs to have a maximum capacity of 32GB. Obviously, any photos or videos stored on the SD card can be deleted at your choosing.

One final point whereby there is the potential of adult intervention required, is the inserting and replacing of the paper roll for the instant prints. As per our rocket ship camera, the picture of the rocket ship covers the area where the paper roll is inserted for the printing element. This flap maybe a little too tough for delicate small fingers to open and the roll of paper maybe a little too tricky (it can unravel) to be inserted correctly for use! I just carried this task out for my 4 year old and then she was happily on her way again taking snap shots.

4 rolls of printing paper are provided with the camera which I believe allow for over 250+ photos to be printed (so I deem this as approximately 65 photos printed per roll of paper). The pictures themself are printed in black and white (unfortunately no colour). There is no actual ink store housed within the Photo Creator camera because it cleverly uses thermal print technology. The photos printed are therefore, instantly dry too (no mess or smudging)!!

I find it truly fascinating watching my daughter handle technology with such ease! Nothing seems to phase her and after briefly showing her what each button does (fortunately there aren’t too many and the instructions clearly identify how it all works), at the age of 4, we have a budding photographer now in our mists! In today’s technological era, I don’t think our children will have any issues with figuring out how this camera works.

My little girl adores having the freedom of taking all the pictures and videos that her heart desires. Furthermore, at the click of a button, the screen switches direction and she now has a selfie option. This is even more fun when she has a friend with her and they pull faces together at the lens!

A little attachable rocket themed looped wrist strap is also included too.

The thing that brought the most amount of giggles, and what she spends the most amount of time playing with, is the various backgrounds/ borders/ frames for the photos. One minute she looks like she’s meeting an alien and the next minute she’s riding a rocket ship. Pressing various buttons, she can manipulate any of the stored photos into a selection of funny scenes. At this stage, I’m not entirely sure how many borders/frames there actually are. Alternatively, she may choose to select a frame and then do an instant photo print using it.

The Photo Creator Instant Camera also comes with a selection of stickers (rocket ship themed in the case of the blue camera) and some colouring pens whereby your child can ‘jazz up’ their instant print photos and make them truly unique!! Creativity and imagination are certainly encouraged with this item!

This Photo Creator Kids Instant Camera would make for a wonderful Easter gift or in fact, a perfect gift at any occasion! It enables precious memories to be captured by the little hands of our children and allow for our little human’s to enthusiastically explore their surroundings with so many possible creative outcomes!
