Peter Pan Goes Wrong at the King’s Theatre Edinburgh Review
Peter Pan Goes Wrong

As the title suggests this is a story that follows the disastrous adventures of Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and company. However in this production everything imaginable that can possibly go wrong does when the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society tries to put on the play, whether it is a result of the inappropriate casting of most roles, the technical difficulties with lighting and sound equipment, or the very unfortunate incidents with staging and props. The whole evening was full of fun and just plain silliness which had the audience in fits of laughter throughout the night.
As a huge fan of Peter Pan, I was really looking forward to seeing this slapstick comedic take of the classic tale. And slapstick it certainly was! From arriving at the theatre to leaving, there was one ridiculously funny incident after the next. The imagination that has gone into not only the script, but the staging is simply amazing.
The whole cast were hilarious and very talented, especially their ability to keep a straight face through their performances. By the end of the show you really did feel each one had been put through a huge ordeal! The stage and props had been extremely well thought out, and played a huge part in the success of the production.
The Kings Theatre is a very small traditional theatre with the most beautiful decor. It has been extremely well maintained and staff is also exceptionally friendly and helpful. As the theatre is in the heart of Edinburgh’s City Centre it is easily accessible, however there is free parking available surrounding the theatre after 5.30pm.
I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and laughed throughout. I would definitely recommend this show to friends and family of all ages, giving it a very funny 3 out of 5.
