Brilliant if I do say so myself! If you are up for some crazy fun or just need a night mood boosting chuckling, the Lyceum Theatre is the place to be! Being completely new to this show, we had NO idea what we had let ourselves in for and we were looking forward to see what this show had in store. We immediately knew that this was not going to be your normal experience when half the cast were running around the seats and on the stage, looking for a lost hammer that someone had misplaced and then, with hilarious audience participation, had to run a lead cable from the stage, through the seating area, right to the back of the theatre as the cast we experience “some electrical issues” on stage.

But this was only the beginning of the side-splitting evening that awaited us. The formidable duo Chris Bean (George Darling and Captain Hook) and Robert Grove (Nana the dog, Starkey and Co Assistant-Director) were my personal favourites and there was a particular moment when Chris Bean was challenged by the audience that had us all crying with laughter. But huge shout outs to Jonathan Harris (Peter Pan), Sandra Wikinson (Wendy Darling), Dennis Tyde (John Darling and Mr Smee), Max Bennett (Michael Darling and the crocodile), Lucy Grove (Tootles) and Trever Watson (Stage Manager) made up the remainder of the principal cast members who all contributed in making the show the huge success that it is. Particular hilarious performances by Francis Beaumont (narrator and Cecco) and Annie Twtllofl (Mary Darling and Lisa and Tinker Bell and Curly) – bravo! Your presence on stage was captivating and spectacular – you both need your own award for the many costume changes and absolute spot on timing for all your scenes which had the entire audience in stitches – never have I seen better timing with both glitter and costumes!

The stage itself was an utter work of art with revolving stage set to collapse and fall over at just the right moments. The scene where the stage keeps moving and the characters move from one to the next on a sort of revolving scene was brilliantly timed and how no one really got hurt is beyond me.

Some tongue in cheek moments some dry humping and a bum cheek or two on display added to the laugh out loud moments and definitely something I think should be noticed in a review – not to change the age of who is recommended to attend but just something I think parents of younger viewers would want to be aware of.
