As someone who regularly bakes cakes for the family and school events the OXO Baker’s Dusting Wand is an absolute must. Having used a few dusters and shakers over the years, what it really nice about the design of this wand is how precise it allows you to dust – no more wastage and mess from dusting icing sugar all over the cake stand and work surface.
The dusting wand is of stainless steel construction with a two part plastic handle and has the usual OXO quality look, feel and finish. The head opens to allow for icing sugar to be put into the duster and with a quick rotation of the bottom half of the handle, your chosen ingredient is safely stored and ready to be used. I like the fact that one side of the wand is solid so you can rest it on your work surface without losing ingredients. With a steady hand you can fit just under a table spoon of ingredient into the wand. Although sturdy, I do ensure the wand is stored in the open position so the head does not get dented or damaged whilst in the draw with my other utensils.
The size of the holes in the duster allows for a variety of different ingredients to be used such as icing sugar for cakes, chocolate powder for hot chocolate and coffees, flour for evenly flouring baking pans or surfaces before rolling pastry and dough, alternatively great for evenly dusting edible glitter for a professional finish to party cakes.
The duster could be stored in your icing sugar container alternatively it is easy to wash, dry and store ready for the next baking session.
This is another fantastically designed product from OXO. Although it is a little more expensive than a normal shaker style duster, you will get great professional results without wasting ingredients. This product is well worth the investment and will not sit gathering dust in the cupboard.
