I have to say that this review arrived at the perfect time for me as I have really sensitive scalp and dandruff. I had finally found a product that worked and had a pleasant fragrance, only for the company to change the formula so that the issues of dandruff have now returned. I am at the point where I am used to paying higher than supermarket prices, but with a £12 price tag on this product for 200ml I still expected great results.

Odylique only tests its’ products on human volunteers with sensitive skin, plus there are no sulphates, petrochemicals, common allergens or palm oil. It is also vegan! I love that this product is 100% natural and 70% organic… even the bottle is recycled. The fragrance is natural, and the organic coconut, herbs and tea tree oil are designed to reduce itching and dandruff, and balance greasy hair. This is perfect for me now that I no longer bleach my hair, as I am finding my hair is more oily.

In terms of ingredients, you have tea tree for the dandruff flakes, horsetail to strengthen the hair and aloe to repair, with coconut oil to condition. Rosemary promotes shine and the nettle is used for scalp health.

The instructions state that you should leave the shampoo in your hair for 2-3 minutes before rinsing, as this will help to keep the dandruff away and potentially avoid the need for a separate conditioner. The latter is quite alien to me so I have to say that I still used a conditioner after the first use. The second time I was brave, but found that my hair was still a bit too squeaky clean and needed some conditioner at the ends to soften them up as my hair is long, but I did use less than normal. The roots and top half combed through fairly easily without conditioner, so if your hair is shorter then I would imagine conditioner could be a thing of the past if you don’t mind the “squeaky clean” feel to your hair.
From experience I am are aware that it can take several washes for the dandruff and itching to cease, so I was keen to give this a good try. Tea Tree is one of those “love it or hate it” scents; I like it and associate it with cleanliness but my daughter wasn’t quite so sure when I tried this with her. I was impressed that the scent remained on my hair the following day, as I love hair that smells attractive. My hair felt really clean and looked glossy. After wash one I did not have any itching or irritation but there was still some dandruff.

For wash number two I made a conscious effort to really massage the shampoo in and left it to soak a little longer. Once dried, the dandruff had completely gone and my hair looked amazing; shiny, soft, manageable and it just felt so clean. It’s such a relief to have a calm scalp again and to not worry about flakes.

My main concern was the price, as I did need to use slightly more than my previous shampoo to achieve a good lather. Apparently, the shampoo doesn’t lather as well as there are no synthetic chemicals, so perhaps I need to adjust to this rather than use more product. I sometimes go swimming and this requires a second wash, but I noticed that I used less shampoo on the second wash as it seems to lather better. If you balance the cost out with not using a conditioner (or using a smaller amount) then it is suddenly more affordable.

I would award this shampoo 5 stars out of 5; it achieves what it sets out to do in terms of treating the scalp area, and you have the bonus of a lovely scent.
