We were really happy to get this review, I have a little boy (5) who’s favourite colour is pink, he loves watching films with fairies in them and has wanted one of these for ages after seeing all the adverts on the TV. His little sister was equally excited to help as she loves planting seeds and watching them grow.

The item came in a beautifully designed branded box, complete with pictures of what your finished garden could look like. A Beautiful fairy, unicorn and the contents of the box are all in an image on the front, there is also a small window on the front so that you get a little sneak preview of what you are getting. On the reverse of the box is the contents included and a little write up.

Once you get it out of the box it is all individually packaged in cellophane bags, something that I’m not sure is completely necessary, especially as a lot of people are so conscious about the environment, this could put some people off. However it does keep it all protected during transit. There is also a small instruction booklet so you and your littles will know exactly what to do.

The individual items are all well made and for pieces so small all feel fairly solid. A few of the pieces do need to be assembled but they are really easy to put together, the bridge and roof of the campervan were easy enough for my 5 year old to do on his own following the easy to use instructions. Slightly trickier to do was the bunting, you need to tie either end onto poles and stick the bunting on folding over stickers to create the triangles, not the easiest to get right but there are spare stickers so hopefully you’ll have enough to get it looking good.

Then we got to planting the seeds, thankfully I had a half bag of compost in the shed or they would have been really disappointed – so do make sure you have this to hand before starting. This was fairly straightforward, however the seed bags aren’t labelled, so if you don’t know your grass seed from your red edible leaves you will need to do a quick google on grass seeds to differentiate and plant in the right places. The coloured stones for the pathway were a huge hit and they loved putting those in the right place, it all seemed to come together quickly and looks good even before anything grew.

I have waited 5 days before writing this review as I wanted to give the seeds a chance to sprout, the instructions say it could be 7-14 days so you do need to be a little patient, however I put our tray in a sunny windowsill and kept it well watered and within a couple of days the red edible leaves had started to show signs of growing, another 2 days and with the help of a good dose of vitamin D (the only day the sun has actually shone since we planted them) they have grown to around half a cm. The grass is just starting to sprout in places and our garden is very soon going to look lush and beautiful which is a very good thing as a 5 year old always wants results!

Overall we are really happy with this, it was easy to assemble, it was straightforward to follow and it has given us something to do while we are all home. It is educational, it is edible and it would make a great gift for any little ones who like fairies, unicorns or enjoy time in the garden.
