With a 3 and 4-year-old who both watch Milkshake in the mornings we decided to take them on a family outing to see Milkshake Live – we didn’t tell them where we were going until we got there, and they saw the posters up of Milkshake Monkey you should have seen the excitement on their faces it truly was magical.
We took them to The Lowry in Salford, Manchester to see it we parked in the multi-storey car-park at the Outlet Mall which has plenty space and is only a short walk through the mall to the theatre.
The actual show was hosted by two of the presenters. We had Olivia and Derek presenting our show. The show itself is a tale about Milkshake Monkey wanting to become a fairy-tale prince so the fairy godmother sends him into 7 fairy-tale’s (Dick Whittingham, Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, The 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears) to see which prince he would like to become – in each fairy-tale he is met with a Milkshake character (Fireman Sam, Little Princess, Winnie the Witch, Noddy, Pip Ahoy, Shimmer & Shine, Bob the Builder, Whisper).
The show contains lots of singing, dancing with easy to learn actions that both boys soon picked up and where dancing away quite merely. Behind each fairy-tale is a hidden message such as fire safety, tidying, not taking things that belong to others, taking turns. Which our boys took onboard and kept reminding me of them on the journey home.
It was an excellent show for any young Milkshake loving kid and was just the right length too (about 1 hour 40 minutes including a short interval) and we all would rate it 5 out of 5.
On our way out, I picked up some information about future shows coming to The Lowry and there are some that we will be coming to see! More details on those can be found here www.thelowry.com/events.
Rating: 5/5
