Magix Music Maker 2015 Review

Reviewed by David Savage

Magix Music Maker 2015 lets you create, record and mix your own songs and is great for the complete novice (like me) or the advanced users. It’s easy to understand features and drag and drop user-friendly interface is simple and fun.

I received the premium version for review which has 6000 loops, sounds and instruments (the standard version has 3000) and 10 soundpools (standard version has 6).

Installation is simple but quite long, it took around 20 minutes to install and requires about 9GB of space (this is for all the sounds and loops).

After installation and opening the program the screen you are greeted with looks quite daunting but after watching the handy getting started tutorial video it’s actually quite simple to use, although that doesn’t mean I will become a world-wide pop sensation overnight!

There are lots of different functions to play with from drums, bass, keyboard and vocals, and these are just the samples that come with the program. You can also record your own and then rearrange, mix and edit. As I am just a beginner I will stick to the samples supplied.

After a few hours of playing around with the different instruments, sounds, vocals and learning how to easily fade in and out, mix and rearrange samples, I created my own basic sample (you can hear this here, I love music but am in no way a musician so this is the best I have come up with so far).

Overall, the MAGIX Music Maker 2015 program is very powerful and impressive. Even for a novice like me it is simple to use, and that’s just using the basic tools and functions I have learned so far, just imagine what a musician could do.

With thousands styles from Rock Pop to Movie Score and instruments from drums to strings there is something for whatever is your preferred genre of music. Once you have all your instruments, sounds and vocals in the arranger (the main screen) you can move bits around, edit and play as you are going along until you have your desired sound.

There are loads of functions to try and I will trying them out for weeks to come and then probably will still find more.

A great music making program for the beginner or expert.
