I am vegetarian and have been all my life, I have already stopped eating a lot of dairy but chocolate has always been one of those things that I just can’t seem to find a good alternative of. So when I was offered a box of plant-based chocolate & peanut butter cups I was really eager to try them and see how good they were. I am also a huge peanut butter fan and having it in chocolate cups that were not dairy chocolate made me a little apprehensive.

When the box arrived, I was excited to see I was sent a arrange of chocolate treats from LoveRaw. They all looked fantastic and all the packs had some slight differences from white chocolate to milk chocolate. I was the Big Box which contains 13 different varieties.

The following were in the box:

1 x M:lk® Choc Cre&m® Wafer Bar
1 x White Choc Cre&m® Wafer Bar
1 x Salted Caramel Cre&m® Wafer Bar
2 x M:lk® Choc Peanut Butter Cups
2 x White Choc Peanut Butter Cups
2 x Smooth Choc M:lk® Choc Bars
2 x Orange M:lk® Choc Bars
2 x Caramel M:lk® Choc Bars

The LoveRaw products are made of entirely plant based ingredients, great for anyone who is dairy free due to allergies or vegan, contains no palm oil or artificial additives which also makes them great for children. The owners are a family-based business that started out in 2013. They have a huge range of plant-based chocolates, similar to the ones that you would normally buy that have dairy in, I was really shocked by quite how many and the various gift options they offer. If I found a box of these under the Christmas tree I would be over the moon!

I tried the White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups first. White chocolate I thought has to be the hardest to get correct and can normally really taste too much of oil used to make them. My first bite did taste a little strange, it looked like chocolate but didn’t taste like it. But as I ate the rest of the cup and the second one in the pack, I felt it ‘hit the spot’. The peanut butter filling was so delicious! It wasn’t overly sweet and it wasn’t really trying to be like white chocolate, which I think would be very difficult anyway. I have to admit I am not a fan of white chocolate so this really wasn’t going to be my favourite.

The next day I tried the Caramelised Biscuit Cre&m Wafer Bar. If I was to give up dairy based chocolate, and even if I wasn’t I think this is one of my favourite bars. The only disappointing part is it was finished too soon and I had to let my husband try some for his opinion. I won’t be sharing next time! You get two bars in the pack and if you love Biscoff you will love these. Also, these were covered in White plant-based Chocolate and this didn’t seem to bother me at all. So I do wonder if it was just that initial taste of trying something new when you think it should taste one way in your brain but it doesn’t. Either way the white chocolate flavour was no longer an issue and I could of eaten 3 packs of these if they were infront of me.

As I was trying to not eat all the bars in one day, I then tried more of the packs over the next few days.

The M:lk® Choc Peanut Butter Cups were really good! That thin layer of plant based chocolate covering the delicious smooth peanut butter was divine. I think they have got the proportions just right with these cups, obviously if you aren’t a fan of peanut better these are not for you. Just as the other ones they tasted amazing, they make you feel like you have had that sweet treat without it feeling like it was too sweet.

I was also sent a pack of M:lk Choc Nutty Choc Balls. They will remind you of another similar chocolate and if you are a fan of those but no longer eat them as you have a plant-based diet then I have great news for you, these are amazing with the perfect crunch and right amount of flavours for each layer, and you can even buy a whole box of them! I recommend finding a secret hiding space for them!

I still have more of the box to get through but I can tell you that the various options that LoveRaw has are a really good alternative to dairy based chocolate snacks. If I was considering giving up dairy and this one this was holding me back then they are one of the best I have tasted, and I have tried quite a few. I love that the website has gift boxes with various combinations, multipack and lots of options that you might not spot in the many stores they are now stocked in.

The ingredients list is understandable, with no pesky additives making them great as a sweet treat for children too. I don’t have any research to back this but I also didn’t feel like I got the sugar rush you get from a lot of these types of bars, it didn’t make me want to reach for more but I felt it did provide me the chocolate hit I wanted. Which is one of the worst things you get from most chocolates and you end up craving more.

Overall, I think the gift boxes are a great gift for friends or family who are dairy free, or thinking of being more plant based. Or just for yourself!

They are available in most supermarkets sold individually should you want to try them before buying a larger number.
